<img src="http://myoldmac.net/picts/ICON-Finder.gif" alt="http://myoldmac.net/picts/ICON-3d-MacSE.GIF" />
Macintosh SE, one of the first sold models - the 800k double floppy edition. It was later upgraded to 4 MB RAM and the second floppy was replaced by a 20 MB harddrive. The Mac is working well, no burned in screen. The case has yellowed due to the age of nearly 20 years. Comes with an original Mouse and Keyboard.

This Week in Apple History... - 14 - 20 Nov

1982: Steve Jobs writes a letter requesting McIntosh Laboratory (www.mcintoshlabs.com) provide Apple a worldwide release for the name Macintosh for use in the computer industry. Jef Raskin's project had been code-named Macintosh since its inception in 1979, but when Apple attempted to trademark the name in 1982, the request was denied because it phonetically infringed on the trademark already owned by the high-end audio equipment manufacturer of Binghamton, New York. In his letter to Gordon Gow, president of McIntosh Labs, Mr. Jobs writes, "We have become very attached to the name Macintosh. Much like one's own child, our product has developed a very definite personality."

M0001 Registry database project. If you own an original Macintosh through a Mac Plus, it is an original M0001 Macintosh model - you should register it here. There is no information required on this page, you may enter as much or as little as you are comfortable with. Apple has long since forgotten about your M0001, but here it lives on forever!

I am proud to present: the "Making Of" of the legendary "Macintosh 1984" advertisement. The ad, the brainchild of the Chiat/Day advertising agency, played well when shown to an sales conference in 1983. But the company's board of directors balked and ordered the ad withdrawn from its Super Bowl slot. Only the intervention of Steve Wozniak, who said he'd pay for the spot personally if the board refused to air it, saved the day. Read more about the making of this advertisement.

"Mac" trademark belonged to another company...

Steve Jobs' trademark spat with Cisco over "iPhone" isn't the first time Jobs has brought a product to market with another company's trademark -- he did it with the Mac.

According to the biography of former Apple CEO John Sculley, Odyssey: Pepsi to Apple, Jobs launched the Mac in 1984 even though the "Mac" trademark belonged to another company.

"Knowing we would face trademark challenges over Steve's decision to launch Macintosh under its original codename, Al (Eisenstat, Apple's general counsel) had argued at full volume that Steve should pick another name for the computer," Sculley writes on page 208.

Sculley doesn't name the other company, but says: "Steve prevailed, but it ultimately cost us nearly $2 million in out-of-court settlements."

Kick it old school with AppleIIGo Apple II emulator widget

Programmer Marc S. something interested in the news tonight. Apparently, as of today,
Apple Computer is no longer known as "Apple Computer Inc.".
Steve Jobs has renamed the company to simply: "Apple Inc.".

Removing "Computers" from the name is to reflect the fact they
now make other consumer products, but still, it seems kind of weird.
No more weird, I suppose, than the disappearance of the rainbow
colored Apple logo or the Apple II series that started the company.

68K Macintosh Paper Craft models

This Collection of Macintosh Paper Craft models was originaly published at the page www.zdnet.co.jp/magazine/macuser but dissapeard from this location.
